Fearing the Evil of this World
Matthew 2:1-12 – Dr. Paul Lyle
Worship Leader – Mark Hudson

Jesus told us that in this world, we will have tribulation. Those tribulations can come from many different sources, especially from the sinfulness and evil intentions of man. Jesus continues by saying, “But take heart; I have overcome the world.” We should not be afraid, but instead be confident as we walk with the Lord.

Fearing the Unexpected
Luke 2:1-21 – Dr. Paul Lyle
Worship Leader – Mark Hudson

Many of us like a routine because it makes us feel comfortable. Get up in the morning, go to work or school, eat three meals a day, then finally, go to bed expecting more of the same routine tomorrow. Then it happens… the unexpected. Fear not and know that with God nothing is unexpected.

Fearing the Unknown
Luke 1:26-38; Matthew 1:18-25 – Dr. Paul Lyle
Worship Leader – Mark Hudson

The unknown has always frightened us. As children, we are scared of the dark because we cannot see what might be there. As adults, are we anymore confident of what we cannot see or do not know? God makes it clear, that he does know, we are his, and we should not fear.

Fearing the Impossible
Luke 1:5-25 & 57-66 – Dr. Paul Lyle
Worship Leader – Mark Hudson

The Lord constantly changes the script from what we expect. The Old Testament is replete with examples of God doing what mankind formulates as impossible. Why do we continue to fear as if what is impossible for us is also impossible for God? The Lord’s arrival begins with the impossibility of John the Baptist’s birth.
