Missions

Summer Creek was born out of Woodridge’s desire to GO.  From day one, Summer Creek has been involved with missions.  This includes helping, serving, teaching, preaching, and singing as we move outside the walls of our church and into the neighborhood, the city, the state, and beyond.

Mission Statement

We exist to proclaim and promote the gospel by organizing and facilitating missional activities while utilizing available resources to engage the reached, unreached and unengaged people in our community and around the world.

We demonstrate this by:

  • Educating
  • Praying
  • Going
  • Sending
  • Mobilizing

Our mission ministry exists to follow the great commission as described in Matthew 28 – to go out and help people become followers of Christ. Our long term strategy is to plant churches. We do this locally, nationally, and internationally by teaming with church planters who have like-minded desires to expand God’s kingdom in their area. SCBC supports them both financially and with service ministry.

Connect

SCBC mission trips support indigenous workers in reaching their communities, whether that be inner city Houston, the Rio Grande Valley or the other side of the world. Regular trips are scheduled to support long term church planting efforts. Ministries include Vacation Bible Schools, sports camps, music, ethnography, prayer walking, construction and eye clinics. We also give regular financial support to several local ministries who serve the needy and homeless.

Serve

We encourage all SCBC members to serve.  Opportunities exist here at home and across the globe. Past opportunities include: Houston Missions Centers Outreach, Helping a Hero, local school and community sponsorships, Downtown Dinner, and Operation Interdependence.

Summer Creek has taken mission trips to:

  • Douglas, Arizona
  • Agua Prieta, Mexico
  • Romita, Mexico
  • Cueramaro, Mexico
  • Turkey

We team up to share the gospel through drama, music, recreation, and crafts.  We do this through VBS sites in both churches and soup kitchens on both sides of the border.  This is such a great opportunity for families and friends to serve and grow together on the mission field.  Contact us for more information.
